Unfortunately, Featherwinds will not be operating their nursery this year. Normally, in the past, Featherwinds has operated Mountain Bounty Nursery. This is a nursery the owners and staff of Featherwinds started several years ago. With the growing demand from local and visiting friends and guests, Featherwinds increased its growing operation by over 200% from each previous year. Unfortunately, we will not be operating our nursery this year; fortunately it is because of our commitments to weddings, events and retreats scheduled for this spring, summer and fall. These commitments have to take precedent to our growing operation. We will not be taking down our "green house", "holding area" or our "sales area". We have not decided if closing the Nursery will be for just this year or if is going to be a permanent closure.

Thank you for your understanding and thank you for making our Nursery one of the biggest and most successful in the area.

Even though we have been receiving snow lately, the much warmer daytime temperatures have melted most of the snow. The grass is starting to turn green and grow, bulbs are breaking ground and birds are returning to the area. The sun is out and temperatures are on the rise!

Fishing, hiking, horseback riding are all activities offered in the Upper Valley just outside of Leavenworth, Washington. If you are looking to get in that last snowshoe trip, you better hurry! Want to hit the slopes for that last ski or snowboard run, now is the time. Although conditions are starting to warm, there are some areas still open and available for snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

You can stay at Featherwinds Lodging, then enjoy the day in the great outdoors or maybe take in a shopping trip to the Bavarian town of Leavenworth. Enjoy the sounds of birds as they return for the spring and summer. Watch for wildlife as they start to move around and explore the "new" surroundings.

ß News Flash à More Snow!

Over the weekend we received about 5" of new snow. Winter is not over yet; it is still hanging on. Last week we were getting "normal" springtime snow; fluffy, big, wet flakes. The springtime type snow came a little early (about 2 weeks); snow in the morning then warmth and sunshine during the day.

However, this weekend we received small, dry flakes reminiscent of a Christmas Eve snow storm. Current weather reports indicate the possibility of more snow and cold temperatures. If you enjoy the outdoors and snow sports, this could be a last chance to for winter time fun.

Here in the Lake Wenatchee, Leavenworth Upper Valley there are snowmobiling trails, cross country ski trails, snowshoeing and skiing available. Spring is on its way. Lately we have had a mix of snow, rain, and sunshine. This is normally a good sign that spring is coming. We are starting to book for a lot of summer time get aways in our lodges and cabins. Here at Featherwinds we have 3 cabins/lodges. All three are fully furnished homes featuring a full kitchen and outdoor hot tubs. ß News Flash à It's snowing again! There is still time to hit the slopes.

Yes, it is snowing again, here in the Upper Valley in the Wenatchee Recreation Area, just outside of Leavenworth, WA. Not much snow is coming down, but fresh snow does bring the thought of enjoying any of the winter sports. If you are a skier, snowboarder, and snowmobiler or like to enjoy any winter sport; time is almost up for your outdoor enjoyment. We have had up to 40 degree weather lately; we have lost a lot of snow so if you keep putting off that last and final ski trip of the year, you better hurry.

So far today we have received about a ½ inch of fresh snow; it's not a lot but it sure makes everything look pretty. Maybe it's time to put together a group of friends for an outing filled with winter fun and relaxation. You can book a lodge or cabin for your group at Featherwinds. We are only about 30 minutes from Stevens Pass Resort. Spend the day skiing or snowboarding at Stevens Pass, then return to Featherwinds and enjoy a relaxing evening with your family and friends. Remember to bring your swim suit, our lodges and cabins have outdoor hot tubs to aid in your relaxation and fun. Fully furnished lodges including a full kitchen including pots and pans, plates and flatware, etc are perfect for a group gathering. ß News Flash à Leavenworth lodging, snow is falling and more expected.

There is still time to get some time on the slopes. Skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing; whichever it is you prefer, now is the time.

Snow is expected all this week. Tonight's forecast says we are to get between 1" and 2" of fresh snow and more is expected during the week. Your best chance for some good snow activities will be during the week. We are expecting rain by the weekend, so try to get some time off during the week and hit the slopes.

This is part two of a news statement by Featherwinds Lodging, LLC. The second part of this news statement provides more history and background of Featherwinds Lodging. It also provides more current and up to date information as well as sample menus.

    Our Romantic Weekend includes it all; dozen roses, special gift package, romantic dinner for two and a two night stay. Our Romantic Weekend truly is a romantic time to remember. An example of the cutting edge; for many of our clients, in our often hectic life style, is the ability to plan a surprise Fiftieth Anniversary for parents. Disguised as a visit to see our wonderful Inn, mom and dad are presented with a corsage and boutonniere by their children. Then proceeding out to our huge covered deck, the family and guests enjoy a filet of salmon dinner with all the trimmings. A specialty cake adorned with gold string work and white roses, for the special couple and the family. Pictures are always memorable. This is part one of a news statement by Featherwinds Lodging, LLC. The news statement provides background, history and present information regarding Featherwinds. From nightly accommodations to destination weddings, Featherwinds is unique in their abilities and what they have to offer their guests.

    Our family is privileged to be part of the ever-growing industry referred to as, Bed and Breakfasts. We now are going on twenty years since the inception of Featherwinds and in an industry of many short timers, we still get a kick out of guests and enjoy who and what we encounter in our profession. Having built each of our facilities, we find ourselves in the unique niche of an ever-growing story of growth and service to our clients. Guests often come for a weekend and come back as a family to enjoy our area and our very special town and it's setting.

Just to be in these beautiful Cascade Mountains of Washington is one of the incredible gifts of our life that actually started with the first Christmas Lighting Festival many years ago when our children were little and my parents purchased the first property here in this recreation area for the family to enjoy.

One can never determine where the journey will take you but ours started with the actual first of our facilities, Featherwinds Bed and Breakfast. It began as we endeavored to serve the best, freshest and wholesome foods that we could and ultimately seemed to bring people back again and again. Return guests often request a breakfast or dessert they had enjoyed on a prior visit. On all weekends except holiday, festival and wedding weekends, a complimentary breakfast is delivered to our cabins. Early on we started our Cake and Champagne complimentary offering with a two night stay for anniversaries and birthdays. We found it to be tremendously successful. We have since changed to sparkling cider; however guests can bring an alcohol beverage if desired. Fresh roses, beautiful white linen with sparkling stemware with silver flatware, and a gentleman not knowing how to impress his special lady, just tipped the scale in his favor to be sure! This beautiful and delicious specialty would be delivered to their suite when they were out for the evening and always is a welcome surprise to both upon their return.

With the cake and sparkling beverage surprise we started with, we have incorporated it into the Inn that we built five years ago. The Cake and Cider is still a favored gift from us for many on a two-night stay here at Featherwinds. This gift can also be enhanced with a dozen roses and a special gift package as well if requested.
